Homeopathy
Homeopathy dates back to the late 1700's, thanks
to the German physician, Samuel Hahnemann. He began
his search for alternative health treatments after
losing faith in the medical practices of his time.
Dr. Hahnemann theorized that symptoms were the
key treating the problem. He believed that if a
specific substance could cause a certain symptom
when taken in its natural state, that the same
substance could also alleviate the symptom after
having been diluted.
As in Dr. Hahnemann's time, the Western world's
current conception of how to treat and cure diseases
is with prescription drugs, over-the-counter
medicines and in the most severe cases, surgery.
However, many of the drugs merely disguise the
symptoms of the ailments and do nothing to cure
the problem itself.
Homeopathy puts Dr. Hahnemann's theories to use.
It is the practice of using natural materials provided
by Mother Nature's tincture at various dilutions. By
focusing on the particular symptoms rather than
trying to cure it, homeopathy promotes the body's
natural healing process, so it may cure itself.
The natural materials used in homeopathic
remedies are derived from a variety of plants,
minerals, and animal sources. Since homeopathy
has been used for over 200 years, the development
and discovery of new remedies is a continuous
process.
Because homeopathic remedies are completely
natural, they can be self administered. In addition,
homeopathic medicines typically cost less and do
not cause the unwanted side effects other prescription
or over-the-counter medicines may initiate.
If you are looking for a natural alternative to
"traditional" medicines and over-the-counter drugs,
homeopathy may provide the answers that you are
looking for.
